MEQ – CCTV Park Road Southgate

Response details:

Dear Cllr Stephanos Ioannou,

The Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Team have not been made aware of issues prior to this enquiry therefore a case has been logged on the Anti-Social Behaviour database and passed to ASB Officer for investigation.

Following your enquiry, xxx has contacted the local police team to establish if they are aware of the issues and if so, what actions have been taken. she has also requested they include this area in their daily patrols if not already doing so and to feed back any of their findings. However, she is awaiting their response. The CCTV Team have been contacted and requested if there are any cameras in the area to monitor the area. However we are awaiting their response.

The Street Cleansing team have advised that the senior Chargehand for this area has inspected Winchester Road. On inspection, he agreed the standards of cleanliness are below those expected. Due to the high level of weeds for this time of year, the dedicated hand barrows are digging out their main Roads. This road will be cleansed on their next schedule day of cleanse.

We would ask that If there are any further incidents of crime or ASB they are reported to the Police at the time the behaviour is witnessed either by reporting online via https://www.met.police.uk/ro/report/asb/asb-v3/report-antisocial-behaviour/ or by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency.

Kind Regards

Original enquiry description:

Please can I bring attention to flytipping, littering and antisocial issues on Park Road, N14 6HB. This road has no through traffic but a footpath over Piccadilly Line to M&S. Frequently groups are observed congregating here in cars or groups on footbridge smoking weed and or/eating takeaways, which is discarded each night on the pavement. The corner in the bushes has become the toilet day or night and so renowned that even cabbies come to clean out their cars rubbish here and to use the loo. It is disgustingly vile!

Groups of youth use the dead-end road to hang out on the footbridge smoking weed and playing loud music. Some residents in the block of flats are certain that drugs are dealt here. It is intimidating and worrying encountering this at night in particular, but sadly we see and smell weed smoking in broad daylight now too.

This road really would benefit from cctv to deter criminals and all antisocial behaviour. Bushes and grass verges are very much overgrown here also, making it?s easy to hide and extremely difficult to actually use the pavement. Please can you help push for regular police patrol, regular litter sweeping, cutting back bushes and ideally CCTV here? The council would make a killing in fines, if officers actually patrolled here.
