Response details:
Dear Cllr Stephanos Ioannou,
Thank you for your enquiry regarding both commercial and residential bins from Nichol Close, that are being stored on the public highway.
Commercial Waste Officer, Mark Chamberlain was previously advised back in October time that due to ongoing works, including resurfacing works at Nichol Close, the bins needed to be temporarily stored out on Chase Road.
This officer was advised that the works would take approximately two to three months.
As the bins are still in situ, I have contacted the office at South Point House who are believed to be the freeholder of the land.
I am liaising with the office and have advised that these bins need to be removed from the public highway as a matter of urgency. I am awaiting a response.
If the office do not come back to me within reasonable time with relevant information, I will issue a notice to the landowner to have the bins removed from the pavement.
It is also my understanding that The Hart pub are also now storing their commercial waste bins out on the public highway. I will carry out an inspection in relation to this matter and take the necessary enforcement action.
Kind regards,
Waste Enforcement Officer
Original enquiry description:
There are bins on the side of Chase Road opposite the Hart. The bins must not be on the public footpath and this should be considered fly tipping.. They leave the biffa bins on the pavement every day and night and its a hazard in the winds it will go into the road
