Conservative Friends of Greece

The Conservative Party has long recognised the importance of maintaining strong and enduring ties between the United Kingdom and Greece. The two countries share a close relationship founded on common democratic values, NATO membership, strong defence cooperation, trade, tourism, education, and deep historical links. As longstanding allies, the UK and Greece continue to work together on issues ranging from regional security and economic growth to cultural exchange and international diplomacy.

The Greek and Greek Cypriot communities have made an invaluable contribution to British society over many decades. From business and entrepreneurship to education, healthcare, public service and the arts, generations of Greeks and Greek Cypriots have helped shape communities across the United Kingdom. North London, in particular, is home to one of the largest and most vibrant Hellenic communities outside Greece and Cyprus.

Maintaining strong relationships with Greeks and Greek Cypriots living and working in the UK is essential. These communities not only enrich Britain’s social, cultural and economic life but also serve as an important bridge between the United Kingdom and Greece. By engaging with the Hellenic diaspora, the Conservative Party can better understand the priorities of British Greeks and Greek Cypriots while promoting closer cooperation in trade, investment, education, tourism, defence and cultural heritage.

As Chairman of Conservative Friends of Greece, Stephanos is committed to strengthening these longstanding ties, fostering meaningful engagement with the Hellenic community across the United Kingdom, and promoting closer bilateral relations between the UK and Greece. He believes that strong international partnerships are built not only through government-to-government cooperation, but also through the people, communities and organisations that connect both nations every day.
