Anderson Close N21- MEQ

Dear Cllr Ioannou,

Thank you for your recent enquiry about Anderson Close.

The Highways Team has informed me that the works in question are being undertaken by Thames Water to replace the existing water mains. Over the years, this water main has burst and caused disruption to road users and local residents on a number of occasions and we hope these replacement works will help to alleviate this.  The job itself commenced in July 2019 and was due to finish at the start of September. Unfortunately, Thames Water have come up against a number of engineering difficulties whilst on site and the works have had to be extended. As it stands, we expect these works to be complete and the site to be clear by 16th November 2019. Enfield Council has been liaising with Thames Water for the entirety of the project and will continue to do so as it draws closer to completion. With regards to your question concerning ‘other works in the Highlands Village area’, they are unable to assist you adequately without further information (e.g. road names and locations). If more information can be provided, they are more than happy to assist.

The Waste Operations Team have also advised that domestic collections are scheduled for Wednesday, Communal recycling bins are scheduled for a Tuesday and communal refuse bins are scheduled for a Monday. The crews have not recorded any issues of late. The operations team have advised that two weeks ago the refuse team were behind due to a vehicle issue but cleared the following day. Waste dumped beside the bins will not be cleared as all waste should be contained within the bin. Residents are also encouraged to use the Council website to report missed collections.  Please pass on their apology and any inconvenience that has been caused.  Further, they have spoken to the collection crew and reminded them of the standards we expect when working for the Council and the need to pay due care when carrying our collections to ensure all bins are collected on their scheduled collection day.

I hope this answers your enquiry.

Kind Regards
