Thank you for your enquiry. My reply refers you to a detailed response, which I attach, offered to the local MP on the same topic earlier this year.
In short, we have investigated improving this junction before but we, and our consultants, have not identified a short-to-medium term intervention that offers enough benefit to outweigh its drawbacks. For this we think a more costly, transformational change would be required, which at present leaves it as a longer term aspiration. Not lacking for sites elsewhere on the network that have road safety problems, and typically ones with more obvious solutions, our focus will remain on those for the present.
