Balaams Lane & Blagdens Lane.- MEQ

Original Email:

Dear Department,

I am emailing to enquire if there is any scope in getting the roads mentioned above asphalted. This is because the pavements are currently very uneven, and one resident has got in touch to tell me about a nasty fall they had whilst walking down the stretch of road.

Any update is appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Cllr. Stephanos Ioannou

Response:

Dear Cllr Ioannou,

Thank you for your enquiry dated 21/06/19, in regards to Balaams Lane & Blagdens Lane.

I can advise that Routine & Reactive Highways carry out routine inspections on these roads every six months. Balaams Lane & Blagdens Lane were last inspected in January 19 and will be re-inspected in July 19. During each inspection all defects within intervention levels are issued to our contractors for repair. Please see intervention levels attached.

If you are concerned about a specific area of these roads we can carry out an adhoc inspection. Please provide us with details of the exact location. A Highway Officer will then inspect the area and take the appropriate action to rectify any defects within intervention levels.

Furthermore, I have been informed Balaams Lane is not on the pavement renewal programme for this financial year. The Principal Engineer for Streetscene Improvements will take a look at Balaams Lane and review whether it should be included in the programme for next financial year. However, the section of pavement opposite Lime Tree Park, adjacent to the resident parking bays on Blagden’s Lane is included in the programme for this financial year and is programmed to start in early August.

I hope this answers your enquiry.
