Thank you for passing on the enquiry about Byland Close. Please extend my apologies to your correspondent if we have failed to respond to previous communications.
Roads like Byland Close are of interest to us under our ongoing yellow line work to ensure access can be maintained for bin lorries and, less routinely but perhaps more crucially, fire engines. When the hindrance point is simply at the junction, the most suitable intervention is not usually hard to agree upon. With Byland Close being such a constrained environment, our previous proposals recommended lines extending further into the close to avoid devoting resources to what might have proved only a half-measure. I recall some adverse comment from nearby households and I believe the idea has been on hold since.
Discussing with colleagues, we plan to look again at the design and will advance to a fresh consultation exercise in due course, with advance notice to local representatives and letter drops to the affected homes as per our usual approach.
