I am emailing concerning a new issue that our ward faces, that is the provision of childcare services. I have recently discovered that Tara’s Kindergartens have stated on google that they are ‘permanently closed’. Both residents and businesses are concerned that the business-which did give a boost to the local economy, and not least provision for working parents-will leave Southgate entirely.
Can we please look into if the kindergartens has fully closed, and if this has anything to do with the new planning proposals that we introduced for this part of the parade. Is there a link here?
Can we please look into this for the future of provision, and the clarity of residents.
Cllr. Stephanos Ioannou
Conservative Councilor for Southgate ward,
Dear Cllr Ioannou,
Re: CRM MEQ 14869 – Burleigh Parade, 2-16 Burleigh Gardens, London, N14 5AD ref: 18/00755/FUL
Thank you for your inquiry regarding the closure of Tara’s Kindergartens, we have spoken to the Children care team and they have confirmed that the closure to Tara Kindergarten Southgate was the registered providers decision to do so and there is currently sufficient childcare within the local area. The closure has not made an impact on the childcare demands.
The business has been closed as the owner of the site would like to redevelop the site for residential. A second application ref: 18/00755/FUL for: Change of use and conversion of floor from nursery with office to 4 x self-contained flats, with nursery, was refused for 4 reasons following a previous refusal ref: 17/04657/FUL for 6 flats and no nursery was refused and sequential dismissed on appeal.
The most recent refusal has also been appealed by the applicant.
I hope this clarifies your queries.
