Darlymple Close- MEQ

Original Email

Dear Department,

I would like to bring to your attention an issue that is causing much distress to the residents of Darlymple Close, Southgate N14.

The road is situated next door to Woolfson Helil School and further down there is both St. Andrews and West Grove.

Over time parents have been taking their children to school but parking on this road, and continuously are blocking the driveways causing access issues for the residents.

  1. Is there any enforcement that can be undertaken during drop off and pick up times to ensure drivers are careful?
  2. Can we please advise the schools to advise parents to respect surrounding roads?

Dear Cllr Ioannou

Thank you for your email regarding the issues residents are experiencing during school times in Darlymple Close.

Residential areas around schools are notorious for experiencing inconsiderate and illegal parking from parents dropping and collecting their children.

With over 100 schools within the Borough, enforcement takes place on a rotational basis with additional visits to those schools where specific complaints have been received.

I will add this location to our enforcement list requesting the area is targeted for a period of time. Vehicles parked on a restriction, such as school keep clears and single yellow lines will be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice, and also if they park on the footway or double park.

If the vehicle is parked across a dropped kerb then the resident/owner of the property is required to call The Parking Team on 020 3856 0036, at the time of contravention and provide their details and the details of the offending vehicle.

I have copied in the healthy street team to this reply for them to consider the points raised regarding communicating with the school itself.

Kind regards
