Flytipping in Southgate- MEQ

Classification: OFFICIAL

Dear Councillor Ioannou

Thank you for your recent e-mail raising concerns about littering and flytipping issues in Southgate.

  1. Park Road – the area around the bridge has been cleared.  The team responsible have been reminded of the standards they need to maintain here.  Unfortunately we find dead Christmas trees being dumped all throughout the year and those at this site have been removed.
  1. The litter bin on the footpath between Chelmsford Road and Chase Road near the allotments has been cleared along with all excess around it.  This is now being checked twice each week.  It is obvious that the rubbish accumulating by the litter bin is being dumped there by the allotment users.  It has been raised with the allotments officer to speak with the plot holders about keeping the site clean and how to dispose of their waste.
  1. The ASDA trollies reported were removed and returned to ASDA.  More have been removed since.
  1. The Christmas tree was removed from outside the shop on the junction of Chase Road and Hillside Grove.
