Response details:
Dear Cllr Stephanos Ioannou,
Thank you for your Members enquiry relating to concerns about a 5G mast in Southgate
Radiation levels are not monitored or measured by Local Authorities. I have searched the internet and it has provided the following:
In the UK, radiation levels are measured and monitored by several organizations:
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) sets dose limits to protect workers and the public from ionizing radiation exposure.
Public Health England calculates average radiation exposure levels, which are about 2.7 millisieverts (mSv) per year.
The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) assesses safety cases for nuclear facilities and ensures adequate protection against ionizing radiation.
The Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017 govern the use of ionizing radiation in medical settings, ensuring safety standards are met.
These organizations work together to ensure safety and compliance with radiation regulations in the UK.
There was nothing mentioned about phone masts in particular but my initial thoughts would be the HSE would be best placed to consider the concerns raised.
Regards
Team Manager
