Response details:
Dear Cllr Stephanos Ioannou,
Thank you for your enquiry.
The Environmental Crime Unit (ECU) requested that another letter be sent to the freeholder’s new address before any works could be undertaken. A further seven day period has now been granted to allow the freeholder an opportunity to carry out the required works. letters sent out on 28/08/26.
Should the vegetation not be cut back to an acceptable level once the period specified in the letter has expired, the Council will need to serve a formal Notice before any works can be undertaken by the London Borough of Enfield.
If the freeholder fails to comply with the Notice, the Council may arrange for the necessary works to be carried out and recover the associated costs from the freeholder.
Any further enquiries regarding this case should be directed to the Environmental Crime Unit for comment.
The Tree Team will only become involved if requested to do so by the Environmental Crime Unit. In such circumstances, we may be asked to clear any obstruction affecting the public footway or highway should the property owner fail to undertake the required works.
I hope this information is helpful.
Yours sincerely,
Arborist Team Manager
