MEQ- Chase Road Parking Enforcement

•

Response details:

Dear Cllr Stephanos Ioannou,

We refer to the resident concerns regarding vehicles parked on double yellow lines in Chase Road, N14, and the apparent lack of enforcement action.

There are certain exemptions that may apply when a vehicle is parked on a waiting restriction. These can include passengers boarding or alighting, the display of a valid Blue Badge, or loading and unloading activities. Before taking enforcement action, a Civil Enforcement Officer (CEO) must first establish whether any of these exemptions apply.

Following the concerns raised, we asked NSL to investigate the matter. They have since spoken with the officers concerned, who confirmed that a conversation took place and that they subsequently attended the location to carry out enforcement checks.

The officers advised that, of the vehicles observed, two drivers returned to their vehicles and were instructed not to park on the double yellow lines. The third vehicle was displaying a valid Blue Badge. The officers do not recall advising the resident about waiting 10 minutes before enforcement action could be taken. We believe there may have been a misunderstanding or miscommunication regarding this point.

We have reminded NSL of the importance of ensuring that officers carry out enforcement in accordance with the relevant policies and procedures, and that any information provided to members of the public is clear, accurate, and consistent.

If the resident requires any further assistance, please contact parking@enfield.gov.uk.

Kind regards,
