MEQ- Christmas tree that is installed in Southgate Circus

Case Reference: 101001918735

Response details:

Dear Cllr Stephanos Ioannou,

Thank you for your recent correspondence in which you request information regarding the cost and addition of lights on the Christmas tree that is installed in Southgate Circus.

The cost to “Supply, Install and Dress the tree” is £3,954.00. Unfortunately there was a delay in this enquiry coming over to us so I am not sure of the actual date it was submitted. However the process is for the tree to be installed first as this is done during the night using a large lorry and crane to lift the tree over the footway and into the underground socket that is in place for it. The tree would remain in pace without any lights installed for a few days as another team will carry out the dressing of the tree. It could be possible that you witnessed the tree between it being installed and the lights being fitted. I will personally carry out a survey of all Christmas lighting installation on Thursday 11th November and will certainly visit Southgate Circus to ensure the tree is adequately dressed.

Kind Regards
Client Manager Street Lighting

Original enquiry description:

Can the relevant department please confirm the cost of installing and placing the Christmas tree in Southgate Circus? Can they also please confirm if there will be any decorations or lighting added to the tree to make it look a bit more festive as at the moment it does look quite dull? Thank you.
