Response details:
Dear Cllr Stephanos Ioannou,
Thank you for passing on the concerns raised by residents of The Bourne regarding flooding. A team attended the area outside the park entrance and cleared all the gullys on both sides of the road, this took place on 12/6/25
Yours sincerely

Original enquiry description:
These photos taken from my house window show the flooding in The Bourne N14 6QX (opposite the gate to Grovelands Park). It happens each time it rains heavily.
It constitutes a safety hazard as it makes the zebra crossing difficult to access (people have to fumble around it or step around).
Manoeuvring a wheel chair through it is impossible and Ive seen wheelchair users having to abandon their journey..
It is ongoing and it hasnt been addressed properly. When it rains its flooded; when the water drains finally its full of mud. When its dry its full of soil, debris and dust.
It has been cleaned once (thanks to your intervention), but its not enough as it happens regularly due to the position of the crossing i.e. its in the road dip and water runs freely from the side of the hilly road.
The council should look into other measures, like planting green hedges, or raising some other barriers. Im sure the green space planners are more knowledgeable in this respect than me.
Once they planted a crooked tree there that leaned heavily and it was finally taken out leaving an empty hole never to be replaced.
It would be great if you could raise this issue with the appropriate authorities in the council.
Thank you for your help.
