MEQ- Hart Lounge Noise Complaints

This MEQ is in response to residents concerns for the increasing noise disturbance around the Hart Lounge in Southgate. I am pleased and satisfied with the Officers response, I think the council have done a good job here.

Response to Enquiry

Dear Cllr Stephanos Ioannou,

Thank you for forwarding the concerns raise by your constituent.

I had a meeting with the management team at the Hart yesterday, to discuss the issues regarding loud music.

They have agreed in principle to install a noise limiting device, which once in place and calibrated correctly, will hopefully negate any further nuisance.

In the interim, they have provided a telephone number for the premises manager, which can be used by your constituent and others in their position, to call the venue and advise that the level of music is too loud. They will be expecting calls from withheld numbers to ensure the anonymity of the individuals.

I am in the process of drafting proposed additional conditions to be added to the licence, with the support and consent of the Premises Licence holder.

They are now fully aware of the gravity of the situation and want to avoid any potential review, which would come about as a result of a statutory nuisance being witnessed.

I will keep your constituent updated with the progress and provide them with the contact number for the manager at the premises.

I hope this helps

Kind regards

  1. Hi Stephanos,

Grateful for making the local community aware of this response.

    However, there are greater concerns around this venue that need to be addressed which have been persisting over time namely;

    1. Cars double parked on pavements and on double yellow lines all outside the immediate venue.
    2. General trouble, congregations of people outside of the venue
    3. Stabbings outside the venue.

All such items also need to be addressed by both the Council and management of the establishment.

    Many thanks
    Chris

    1. Morning Chris, apologies for taking long to respond on this. Regarding the parking issue, we are in contact continuously with parking services in Enfield asking for more enforcement along that stretch especially on Friday nights and weekends. We have installed bollards as well after a lot of lobbying the local authority so this is a step in the right direction.

Regarding the license of the venue, it’s currently sitting with licensing committee as they are reviewing the entirety of the license following events. I hope this clarifies.
