MEQ- Misuse of public highway – Merrivale N14

Dear Cllr Ioannou,

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the misuse of the public highway on Merrivale, N14.

I conducted an inspection of Merrivale on 18 June 2026, please see my attached photograph for your reference , I checked the tax status of all vehicles in situ at the reported location, I found no vehicles untaxed, nor did I observe any vehicles being offered for sale.

Please be advisedthat at present that the local authority does not have any legal powers to take enforcement action against vehicles reported on the public highway without a valid MOT. Our enforcement powers are limited to untaxed or abandoned vehicles. Vehicles without an MOT can be reported to the police who have the powers to investigate vehicles on the public highway without a valid MOT certificate.
