MEQ- Overgrown Trees Eversley Park Road

Response details:

Dear Cllr Stephanos Ioannou,

Thank you for your enquiry regarding overgrown trees located within the grounds of 36 Eversley Park Road. We have carried out a land registry search which shows this area of land is in private ownership.

I have passed this onto our Highways Inspectors team who will contact the owner to enforce clearance of any obstruction to the public footpath and road of Brookside. I hope this is of assistance.

Yours sincerely,
Arboricultural Officer

Original enquiry description:

Can I please get an idea of the land-ownership around this road please? It seems the trees in question are not council owned so we have to get to the bottom of it.

I am emailing you on behalf of the residents at Brookside N21.

Several of us have reached out to enfield council over the years about the grossly overgrown trees on Brookside. Enfield council have advised us the trees which are on the side of the river / brook are not public trees and so there is nothing they can do about them. We are unable to get any further information from the council about who they belong to and so we have felt our only option is to contact you and we really hope you can help us.

I have lived in Brookside for over 10 years and these trees have not been cut back for many decades. The issue we have is the trees are causing damage to our cars ( as you can imagine to keep washing our cars at 25 a go has become very costly to us). The bird excrement / fall out from the trees is a constant burden to us all.

I have provided pictures of the trees below whereby you can see the height and overhang, the shrubbery has also taken up half the pathway. We appreciate there are many important items on your agenda but emailing you has become a last resort, this is very important to us all here at Brookside.

We urgently need these trees to be cut back and the overgrown shrubbery cleared.

These enormous trees also pose a risk to the cars and our properties should we have bad weather / a storm.

Is there anything you can do to help us?

Brookside is a cul de sac – a lovely little road but we need our road to be given a little attention and we really hope we have your support and it is with hope that you can assist us. We look forward to hearing from you.
