MEQ- Parkway, N14

Response details:

Dear Cllr Stephanos Ioannou,

Thank you for your follow up and for raising concerns on behalf of your constituent regarding works at Parkway, N14.

I appreciate why visible works such as scaffolding and temporary coverings can give rise to concern. The Planning Enforcement Team is responsible for investigating alleged breaches of planning control and, due to limited resources, must prioritise cases where the potential harm arising from unauthorised development is clearly identified.

Not all building works require planning permission. For example, internal works, window replacements, painting, or certain repairs may be lawful, and the presence of scaffolding or weather protection alone does not confirm a breach of planning control. In some cases, works may require other consents (such as Building Control approval), which we can help signpost if this becomes relevant.

At present, the information provided does not specify what aspect of the works is believed to be unauthorised. Planning Support officers are required to triage all reports at the initial stage, and sufficient detail is needed to determine whether there is a possible breach of planning control that requires investigation by a Planning Enforcement Officer, and to assess the priority of the case. Photographs of the works and/or clarification of the alleged unauthorised development (for example, extensions, roof alterations, or other external changes) would therefore be extremely helpful.

To ensure concerns are properly recorded and assessed, they can be submitted via the Councils online planning enforcement form, which captures all the necessary details to triage cases appropriately:
https://www.enfield.gov.uk/services/planning/planning-enforcement.

Alternatively, if it is easier, the above information and any photographs can be provided directly via this MEQ, and the Enforcement Team will review it in line with the Councils Enforcement Policy and take proportionate action where it is expedient to do so.

Thank you for your continued engagement on this issue.
