MEQ- Road Works – Winchmore Hill Road

Response details:

Dear Cllr Stephanos Ioannou,

Thank you for your enquiry concerning works on Winchmore Hill Road.

Unfortunately a location description hasn’t been given, but I am assuming that the enquiry relates to the recent Thames Water works outside No.99.

These works were classified as ‘Immediate – Urgent’ by Thames Water to repair a burst water main and required two-way signals to allow the repairs to be completed safely and efficiently. We imposed a condition on the permit application to manually operate the signals during the morning and evening peak hours to try and minimise disruption where possible. The works began on 23rd November and were completed on 29th November.

Kind regards

Original enquiry description:

Enfield Council must as soon as possible give us an estimate estimated time and urgently fast track the works that are taking place along Winchmore Hill Road. The traffic this morning is holding up not only parents, commuters and people going to work but its causing a level of congestion I have never seen in my 10 years of communting down this road every day to get to the NCR.

I have been inundated with emails from all residents from around the area telling me that their morning commute has become manic and this morning is absolutely no different. The entire road is congested.

Can I please ask the council to dedicate more time and more effort and more resources to really fix the temporary works along Winchmore Hill Road?
