MEQ- Southgate Controlled Parking Zone

Dear Cllr Stephanos Ioannou,

Thank you for your enquiry from your constituent XXX regarding the Southgate Controlled Parking Zone . XXX states ‘ It has come to our attention that the CPZ jurisdiction has been altered without resident notification or consultation. The change from one permit per household to unlimited permits without resident input has led to chaos, ‘ There is a limit of 3 permits per resident per household and this has not changed.

XXX also states ‘the apparent extension of the CPZ without due process. ‘. I have consulted with the Traffic and Engineers Team and they confirm there is no plan to extend the current zone. Any extension or change of a Controlled Parking Zone would involve public consultation.

The illegal activity stated does need to be reported to the police for them to deal in accordance with legislation. The Parking Team are aware of a vehicle that removes its number plates that is also untaxed. This has been reported to the Environmental Crime Unit for them to follow procedures for the vehicle to be removed.

The location has been added to the additional enforcement List for increased visits to assist with the on going illegal parking that is taking place. Any vehicle found to be parked without a valid permit will be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice. Illegal parking can be reported at the time it is occurring by calling The Parking Shop 7am-7pm Monday to Sunday.

Kind Regards
