MEQ- Tree Planting across Enfield

I have received the following information on tree planting from officers.

The schedule of street trees planted by ward in 22/23 and 23/24 is attached. There was a large drop in the number of street trees planted in the period, and I will check whether the street tree replacement programme has been effectively terminated.

According to officers, the total number of trees planted, including street trees and rural trees, was 5,192 in 22/23 and 8,832 in 23/24.

The Council is planning to plant a further 18,000 trees in a section of land near the M25 this winter.

As we know, a significant proportion of the trees planted in Enfield Chase over the last two winters died and the officers say they will ensure this doesn’t happen again this winter. I understand the money for this exercise is coming from government as part of the scheme to re-wild parts of the Enfield Green Belt.
