Pennington Drive- Landscaping & Maintenance of Highlands Village- MEQ

ORIGINAL EMAIL:

Dear Mr. XXX,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and I’m sure I speak for my colleagues in the ward when I say that the boundary’s can seem messy at times- hence Highlands Village is not even in Highlands ward but instead Southgate.

You are indeed right in mentioning that bushes and council green spaces must be maintained to a satisfactory standard, and the council should be maintaining this with their green-care landscapers they have contracted for works in parts of the borough. Although residents can do this I’d be more comfortable in getting those genuinely responsible to act.

I have forwarded your concerns to the MEQ department that deals with this sort of complaints, and I hope we can get clarity on the progress of this for the sake of those parking around the Village.

Dear Department,

May we please look at this case of the shrubbery maintenance on Pennington Drive.

  1. Is the council looking further into maintaining this space?
  2. Can we get the landscapers to act accordingly
  3. Is Pennington Drive a priority road for maintenance of greenery? Out of curiosity…

I will keep all councillors and yourself informed of the correspondence in full.

RESPONSE:

Dear Cllr Ioannou,

Thank you for your enquiry regarding over hanging foliage down Pennington drive.

I can inform you we are aware of this issue, And have written to the private land owners where the offending over hanging foliage is situated.

This will of course will be monitored in the coming months.

I hope this helps with your enquiry.

Regards.
