Planters in Southgate- MEQ

Response details:

Dear Cllr Ioannou,

Thank you for your enquiry and please allow me to apologise for the delay in providing you with a response.

The Journeys and Places team organised a community walkabout in Southgate on 7 October to discuss the possibility of installing green areas along Chase Side to improve the everyday experience in the Town Centre. During the walk, different potential locations on the wide footpaths have been assessed and discussed. Participants have also been asked to share views on the types of interventions they would like to see implemented.

Our team has assessed the feedback received during the event and is currently developing a feasibility study to implement green interventions in the locations which were considered the most suitable (not all the potential locations discussed during the walk will be implemented at this stage).

This feasibility study will be presented and discussed with the local community at a second engagement event taking place in December. A date for this will be communicated in due course.

Other interventions will be delivered in Southgate in the coming months (in Ashfield Parade and on the green area close to the Bus Station) and more details for these can be found on the Southgate Town Centre page: https://letstalk.enfield.gov.uk/southgate

Kind regards,
Communications Officer

Original enquiry description:

Given the recent meeting held by journeys and places department in Enfield Council, there were some promises of placing planters in different areas near the Southgate Circus. Can I please get an in detailed response, preferably bullet, pointed of where exactly all these planters are going to go. how many are going to be in Southgate and also the design of each one is it going to be in line with the mentioned plan at that meeting or are there some sites that will not be implemented?
